CONNECTED BY THE SEA
Klitmoller Collective's philosophy is based on the encounters, travels, and gatherings of generations connected by the sea in and around the small Danish village of Klitmoller. The company was founded in Denmark in 2012 and has since been designing clothing for people who feel drawn to Nordic nature.
Klitmoller Collective's goal is to design and manufacture textiles made from high-quality materials and to adopt a responsible approach regarding production, colors, materials, and appearance.
KLITMOLLER COLLECTIVE AT BACKYARD
The range of Klitmoller Collective at Backyard mainly includes tops for men and women, such as T-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, blouses, knit sweaters, and overalls. The designs are characterized by timeless colors inspired by the soothing tones of the sea. The regular fit ensures a comfortable fit and a timeless aesthetic that remains current every season.
Klitmoller Collective primarily use organic cotton and Lyocell in their products. Organic cotton, grown without pesticides, reduces water consumption and contributes to better working conditions. Lyocell ‒ a natural material made from wood cellulose or pulp ‒ has a very smooth surface and a beautiful appearance. It is soft, breathable, lightweight, comfortable, and durable.
All collections are designed in Denmark and produced in small, mostly family-run factories near Porto.
SUSTAINABILITY AND INITIATIVE
A central aspect of sustainability at Klitmoller Collective is the close collaboration with suppliers in Portugal. Through regular visits and close relationships with the factories, the brand ensures that production conditions are fair and that EU waste management standards are met. This transparency and respectful interaction with production partners not only guarantee high quality standards but also fair working conditions and environmentally friendly production.
Additionally, Klitmoller Collective reduces CO2 emissions by selling a large portion of the products within Europe, which shortens the transport route and thus minimizes environmental impact.
Furthermore, the company continuously supports organizations dedicated to the protection of marine life. Annually, Klitmoller Collective organizes its own beach cleanup in Klitmoller to actively contribute to environmental protection.
